Mission Statement
INSIGHT Institute for Neurodegenerative Research advances independent, evidence-based research into overlooked and potentially modifiable contributors to Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, and related neurodegenerative conditions. Through collaboration among patients, clinicians, scientists, research institutions, and philanthropic partners, INSIGHT seeks to improve early detection, prevention, and treatment and ultimately reduce the burden of neurodegenerative disease.

Lewy bodies are a hallmark of Parkinson's Disease. Lewy body dementia is characterized by Lewy bodies in the brain and often co-occurs with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) pathology, including amyloid plaques and tau tangles. Around 50% of people with AD have Lewy body pathology (Marsh et al)
